Sale List Building …….?

If you have been involved with internet marketing for more than a minute or so you’ve heard this statement …….“The Money is in the List”.

List building is essential for Internet marketers to establish a client base and a pool of prospective purchasers. The sales list therefore is a link list of people likely to be interested in the product or proposition that you are presenting.

“A list is only valuable if the contacts are valuable!” …….. let me say it again, “the list is only valuable when the contacts are valuable!”
So, what is a valuable contact and how do we attract them to our list? Thanks for asking! Here are a few tips that will help you build a valuable sales list for your business.

Exposure

The idea is simple! There are just under 2 Billion people using the internet today. That represents a huge marketplace for you and I to present our products and propositions, it is therefore prudent for us to expose our very existence as much as possible.

Researchers tell us that a person rarely buys or accepts any offer the first time round. In fact it usually takes between 7 to 20 visits before a decision to buy is made.

Research also tells us that when people are searching they don’t generally take too much attention to the site address on the first visit so it is highly likely that their subsequent searches will be on a competitor’s site. Let’s face it there is plenty of competition. So, list building is an essential task for all internet marketing to establish a sale list of potential customers.

Exposure means to tell the world you’re here and you have what they want! Use multiple web, blog, network, social sites & advertising to expose your opportunity.

Capture

List building of a suitable sales list requires an opt-in or invitation to leave the visitor’s name and email for contact purposes. Many sites try and encourage this by offering free gifts.

Others rely on the value of the product and the genuine interest at this 1st visit (understanding that they may have already looked at similar offers on other sites). Social sites are also valuable for list building.

Always give opportunity to register interest in what you are doing/selling on your sites. Use Social sites to present that opportunity too … but without being “pushy”. Write articles, produce video’s to brand yourself and your opportunity and when you do always make reference to your main site.

There are plenty of entrepreneurs out there selling ready made lists, very large lists but for my part I think to buy them is a waste of time and money. There are those that would say otherwise, just think about it and you’ll figure out what’s best for you.

Follow-Up

This is when we use the sale list. As with any sound sales procedure we take the opportunity to thank them for being interested and present them with a call to action.

Follow-up again within a few days with another offer and possibly a discount or purchase gift. ‘Aweber.com’ provides a most suitable automated system to do this for you, however the real emphasis is on the follow-up whether it be automated or manual. It is the key to successful sales.

Free Gift

This term is commonly seen on marketing websites with an attempt to entice visitors to sign up to the mailing list. The result being that the visitor gets a gift that costs them nothing and the marketer gets a prize …… another name in the list. The money is in the list! We hear it all the time and there is truth in this statement for sure but there are other considerations around the value of the list.

To my mind a valuable contact is one of three potentialities. They are either:
1. Interested in the product I have
2. Potentially interested for the future
3. Not interested in the product but does see the value of it (and can influence others)

So a valuable list is a list of interested contacts. Obviously the opposite is an invaluable or next to useless list.

The money is in the list ………….. When it’s the right list!

The question is this…………. Does a gift, a free gift no less, which is like saying a gift gift (?) provide you with a valuable contact, a warm contact, or just a name to clutter your system ……. At the end of the day only you can decide what is right for you on this one but just be aware of the difference, the cost and the ownership for when you have built your own list it is yours and you can be confident in the list you have produced.

I wish you well and may your list be extensive and profitable!
